letter to the district and dept

My wife and I would like to thank the members of the Youngsville Fire Dept who answered a call to our home on Sunday April 19th 2026 around 9:00 PM. We had an electrical outlet that had caught fire, As I saw the flames our son Luke also a member of the Youngsville Fire Dept ran to the basement to turn off our electric service as I called 911. Within minutes 9 YFD members were at our house on a chilly Sunday night and began thoroughly checking the breaker box and outlet that was burning. We are extremely lucky that this incident happened when we were home, The only damage we incurred was some charring of the wood surround by the outlet. When the Fire dept left our house one of the trucks they had brought [40-21] had broken down in front of my house and would not start. Had our house been on fire they would have been down a truck and may not have been able to save my house, and that thought continues to haunt me. We were so lucky, this situation could have been so much worse. Andrew Skinner was called who is the YFD mechanic and he responded to my house to look at the truck. After Andrew worked on the truck in the cold and dark for a period of time it was determined that the truck would have to be towed to his shop. Andrew stayed on scene until Prestige towing arrived. We are so fortunate to have Andrew as our mechanic. He is loyal, dependable, and dedicated to serving our dept. He unselfishly comes to our aid, time and time again no matter the time, weather, our any other circumstances. We owe him a great deal of gratitude. My wife and I appreciate the response and service given to our situation by all who answered that call on a chilly late Sunday evening. I feel strongly that we as a district and department, along with the community, take a serious look at our current truck situation. Although these trucks have served our community well, we have a sincere obligation to think about the future needs of this district and determine what is best for all our residents, present and future. Thank You, Rick Ellison
